3 S'MORE RECIPES

During my visit to NYC this past weekend, I finally had the opportunity to visit the highly acclaimed Dominique Ansel Bakery, home of the famous Cronut. Unfortunately, the Cronuts were long sold out by the time I arrived (you have to get there super early in the morning to get one, sometimes even before the bakery opens). Fortunately, they had plenty of their slightly less famous, just as delicious frozen s’mores in stock.

One bite into this chocolate, marshmallowy confection and you’re in love. Or so you think. That is until you sink your teeth in a little further only to realize somebody actually had the audacity to fill the center of this giant caramelized ‘mallow with cold creamy ice cream. That somebody, is award winning French pastry chef/wizard, Dominique Ansel. Ansel’s constant innovation is what sets his bakery apart and quite frankly, way above others. His ability to take something as simple and classic as a donut or s’more and give it a unique, modern twist is something I admire and try to emulate whenever I am in the kitchen.

So in honor of the real life Willy Wonka and the dessert mecca he has created, here are three of my own recipes that are ooey gooey twists on the classic s’more:

S’More Pancakes

Layers of toasted marshmallow and melted chocolate between each fluffy, chocolate pancake. Throw some marshmallows and crumbled graham cracker on top and drizzle with chocolate syrup for good measure.

S’More Poptarts

All your childhood dreams bundled up into one flaky breakfast pastry.

S’More Dip

The simplest, and maybe most delicious of the three recipes. You would have to try to mess this one up.
